Interview Skills

Similar to many situations, the interviewee will make the majority of his/her decision based on first impressions. The way you dress, smile, make eye contact, shake hands and treat the receptionist can impact the success of your interview. However, being prepared with answers to interview questions and questions of your own for the interviewer is important. There are basically two different types of interview questions. One type is the traditional questions (these are questions such as tell me about yourself, what are your strengths and weaknesses? where do you see yourself in five years?). Another is called “behavioral interviewing.” Behavioral interviewing is based on the idea that what you have done in the past you can do in the future. Therefore, the questions ask that you give them examples from your life illustrating what you have done in the past. For example, a question that may be asked is “Give me an example when you had a difficult customer and how you dealt with him/her.”
